Established in 1921, according to the directions of Mahatma Gandhi, as the educational memorial of Lokmanya Tilak, great patriot, leader of the freedom struggle and the great thinker, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth aimed at imparting national education.
Situated in the heart of the city, the Vidyapeeth is spread over 4 acres of land. It is a green pocket surrounded by trees. The Main Building is a sprawling stately structure which brings the rich cultural heritage of the Vidyapeeth to life. The main building houses the office of the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, administrative offices, state of the art meeting hall and classrooms.
The library building has a large collection of books, manuscripts and periodicals.
The college also has a separate canteen and a playground in addition to the administrative and academic facilities and hostel facilities for boys and girls.
